Default Question on vintage jag

I

I have been offered this car in exchange for some work I did for a gentleman - anyone have any idea of the year (he thinks it may be a 56? ) this car I have been told has had a Chevy v8 conversion and appears to have some bondo in the quarters/roof - any ideas what this might be worth to someone - or maybe the parts? Do also I’ve the original hoops ornament etc? Sorry guys I don’t know jags and didn’t know who else to ask. Any insights would be greatly appreciated

Welcome to the forum Thredshed,

Not the best view (!) but it looks like a Jaguar Mark I produced 1955 - 1959. Originally fitted with a 2.4 straight six cylinder engine, this was later enlarged to 3.4 litres.

As also posted on the New Member Forum:

Welcome! With that thick A-pillar and windshield (windscreen) profile, I would venture that the car is a MK-1, which dovetails with the 1956 estimate as to year of production. Pity that it is a V8 conversion though...
