Default What is this?

I recently purchased a 2001 S-Type from a used car dealer, noticed this during the test drive, he couldn't answer. Apparently it's no longer inportant considering I'm not using it and the car runs great and I'm happy. I do want to remove it, but before I go ripping it out I'd like to know where it ends up. It does have a red led that lights up when the ignition is on.

Thanks!

Agreed, either for cell phone, or car stereo.

I have one on the "late" XJ-S. Powered up with an ignition feed.

Remote Starter antenna.

I have one too, probably the same brand. Look around for an I.D. sticker for the remote starter unit hidden away somewhere, or the unit itself.

They are quite pricey, and difficult to install (and remove), so you likely have one installed!

Possibly all you need is to replace the lost $25 remote to make it work!

Or to disconnect it so the PO can't make it work for 'vehicle recovery' purposes!

Bruce in North Dakota, Thank you. Now I'll have a better idea where to look for the rest of it. On a separate note, where about in "That Rectangular Hole in the Consciousness of America" do you live? I grew up in Langdon, family still lives there, don't go back too often, the climate dosent like me anymore. Not very ofter I ever hear of someone else not related to me from there. Thanks again.

Probably a CODE-ALARM F50/F55.
It was a popular aftermarket remote start for Jag and Ford products.
Google for info.
PM if you can't find.

best regards,
Bill
