Default Penske CEO says non-Tesla electric sales are down

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...audi-suvs-flop

Article excerpts,
"But in October, Roger Penske, the chief executive officer of Penske Automotive Group Inc., said the I-Pace hasn’t sold as expected and that consumers have been canceling orders for the e-tron.

“They’re expensive, and everyone has range anxiety, and to me, what’s going to be the residual value at the end?” Penske said during an earnings call. “The growth is going to be slow.”

The answer is surely obvious ! Tesla has invested a lot of money into its own charging sites that give quite fast charging times, and these are exclusive to Tesla cars. If you own any other electric car you have to use publicly available chargers and these can be in bad or non-functioning condition and with very poor charge rates. I have seen a number of videos on YouTube on this theme. The answer is not to have a home charger, because if you want to use a car in the vastness of the US, you need to be able to rely on charger facilities and only Tesla give you that.

And, of course, a Tesla owner can use the public sites as well as the exclusive-to-Tesla sites. It's a no-brainer really.

But can you charge your non-Tesla electric car with a Tesla charger, via an adapter?

Not as far as I know because the Tesla charger requires a Tesla code from the vehicle. However I may be wrong.

You can charge your car from a Tesla home charger (I have the adaptor for all the good it will ever do me) but you can't use a Supercharger. The Supercharger talks to the car and if the car doesn't say "I'm a Tesla" it won't work. In addition, the Tesla chargers bill you (or they are free to Tesla drivers), sadly you can't just drive up and make them work.
