Default Programming TPMS sensors

Does anyone know how to program/sync TPMS sensors? I installed my winter wheels with a set of new sensors from Tirerack, and the I-Pace won’t recognize them. Any help would be appreciated.

If it is the correct sensors, the I-Pace should recognize them automaticly. It might take some time and driving though. How long seems to be a bit random from what I have read on other forums.
I experienced the same last week when I put on my winters for the first time (OEM wheels). Got the warning after a few miles. Drove aprox 20 more miles before I parked the car, and warning still on. Went for a trip an hour later and the warning went away after a couple of miles (and I could read the pressure).
Had a chat with a JLR mechanic later, and he told me that parking the car for aprox 40 min or more (so it gets time to turn off the ecu), and then drive off for a short trip, often helps.

Thanks. I've done that a few times over the weekend, but still to no avail. I'll give it a couple of more days. I'm hoping that Tirerack didn't sell me the wrong sensors. I actually spoke with one of their specialists before I ordered, and he assured me that the sensors that I bought would work.

Even if they're factory sensors, they have to be programmed to vehicle. They will not just be "located" by vehicle. Only way was if you used the original wheel sensors.

Thanks for that information. Will the car accept two different sets of sensors? In other words, when I put my summer wheels and tires back on the car in the spring, will I need to have the car programmed for those sensors again?

Thanks!

That should not be neccessary. If you have the correct sensors on both winter and summer wheels, the car should recognice the sensors automatically when the wheels are changed (with different sets of sensors).
It might take a few miles of driving, and/or sometimes parking the car for some 40 minutes (for the system to shut down and restart again) before the sensors are recogniced by the car.
No reprogramming should be neccessary if the correct sensors are installed in the wheels.

Thanks. I've got the OE wheels that came on the car for use during the summer months. My new wheels are Jaguar OE wheels that I purchased from another I-Pace owner who upgraded his wheels. I added aftermarket sensors and proper winter tires to the second set of wheels. My plan is to switch them out as appropriate for the seasons, so there will be a different set of sensors in my winter wheels. So based on that, do you think that I can have the new sensors programmed, and then the car will recognize them when I change them for the seasons?

That might depend on the aftermarket sensors. I live in Norway, and we are used to swap between summer and winter wheels (with different set of sensors) without any TPMS problems - as long as the car can recognice the sensors.
I don't know if and how the car can be programmed to recognice aftermarket sensors, if they are not of the same type as the OEM sensors. I think you need to ask a JLR dealer/technican about that.

Thanks. I've always switched wheels/tires for winter and summer, and my cars have never had any issues recognizing the new sensors. This is my first Jaguar though....

My guess is that the aftermarked sensors are not of the correct type (just my guess though...).

Jaguars aren't fans of aftermarket sensors. I've had issues with them on both our F-type and I-Pace. Went with Jaguar sensors on the I-Pace and now switching from summer to winter tires is pretty painless. (Knock on wood because I haven't switched yet this year but last year it was pretty painless). When we first got the car we put on Snow tires and had issues with the aftermarket sensors, once switched to Jaguar sensors the problems cleared up.

I spoke with my local Jaguar dealership service tech today. He said that the sensors will need to be programmed to the car, and I've got a service appointment next week. His feeling was that the aftermarket sensors may or may not work. If they work, then we'll go forward with them. If not, we'll replace them with Jaguar OE sensors. I'll report back next week.

Well, the verdict is in. The aftermarket sensors from tirerack.com did not work, even though they were the correct frequency. I had Jaguar OE sensors installed yesterday, and I was able to sync them easily.

Thanks. I saw your reply on the i-paceforum board also. Guess I'll be returning mine also.

Just curious how much you paid for the Jaguar OE sensors. My dealer wants to charge me $133 EACH (not including installation). The 4 I bought from tirerack.com only cost me $92.

I paid the same for the tirerack.com sensors that I have now returned.

Your Jaguar dealer is offing you a good deal for OE sensors. Mine were $196 each, not including installation.
