Default LED Swap

Has anybody tried an led swap on your interior lights. I did this on my cougar and change the green to blue. I don't like the color of the Jag interior lights, on my window switches, gear selection, ext..., I bought some white leds to switch them to, I will post pics, later.

I also have a question for the techs..... if i change the instrument cluster will the mileage change? Not because I want to "roll back"the mileage, just because I plan on changing the instrument cluster lighting to white as well, that way I can take my time to change the instrument cluster lighting and not have to rush it.

Lighting would look like this

Warning:-
Changing the instrument clusterWILL changethe mileageandyouWILL have to take it to a dealer to get the instrument cluster coded to your key.Someone on another forumhad this problem last week (changing to a message centre type although changing to any other cluster will mean it needs coding). My cluster was changed at 38k under warranty.
Re The lights
In my MR2 Turbo I just replaced the interior light bulb with a blue bulb.
Great , especially if you like blue.Cost around £1

It shouldnt take too long to change the instrument pack bulbs depending on the vehicle. All the packs come out very quickly with the exception of the earlier (2000-2002) S-Types. If you are going to take the pack out of one of those, make sure you buy the left and right side vent assemblies just in case.

Well I finished the door switches on my jag here is the detailed process for the rear door..
You start with removing the door panel....... hello door panel

First you removed both phillips type screws shown here..

Then you CAREFULLY remove the plastic piece behind the door handle, becareful because the chrome covering the plastic door handle is very sensitive.

Then according to JFT you "kung fu grip" the door panel and pull it off and unplug the wiring hareness...

After the removal of the door panel then you have to remove "nuts" I guess holding everything in place....

After that turn the panel over and remove the piece we will be working on..

Turn it over and you will see the switch pop that out, carefully...

Now you have the switch.... dam that was alot of work just to get the switch....

Now we will open up the switch and find what we are looking for...

remove the black piece with the bulb and in its place put you led and resistor, the resistor will go in the longer side of the led, and the resistor will be connected to the terminal farthest from the harness connecting pins, I made mine like this... I cleaned it up afterwords because my soldering was pretty bad...

Then I tested it ...... ITS ALIVE, ITS ALIVE.....

What is that ............footsteps........ the garage door opens .........
Wife: "Honey, what are you doing?"
Me: "UH no... nothing cleaning the garage."
Wife: "Is that the door? What? Didn't I tell you stop messing with the car? If you wanted the interior another color you should have bought a differentcar.... blah, blah, blah, blah."
Me: "Um ...... so you want to go shopping and get something to eat so you don't have to cook?
Wife: " OK "

I will post the pics of the finished product tommorrow. AAAHHH the wifey isn't she great, she enrolled us at our local gym, according to her I have to much time on my hands. The window switches took about 2.5 hours to do.
My plan is to go out Saturday night and let her drink herself silly, that way the next day she won't want to get out of bed because of her killer hangover giving me time to do the gear selector, [sm=happy046.gif]
