Can i Swap the Engine from a 96 XJR (6CYl) into the body of a 98 XJ8?
Basicly my body is in bad shape and i found a new body to got with my car but it has a bad motor.
My Jag is a 96 XJR the Body i found is a 98 XJ8. Can i swap the whole drivetrain over or will it be hell to do?
Thank you for the help
Vic

I think that would be a big and complex job. You need to think through the level of integration of the engine and transmission control systems with other stuff (e.g. ABS, Air Con).
Physical fitting will present some problems also. Although the shell looks the same there are many subtle differences. E.g Air intake is on the wrong side. Nothing insurmountable but it won't be straight forward.

I think it will be way to much work, all the components and I mean ALL will have to get switched over to the 98.
You will most likely have to create mounting holes, run the entire wire harnes, etc.... because it is a totally different shell.
Just like Stu1986 stated it would be easier to get another motor for the 98.
Sell your 96 engine to get the 98 engine.

One more question guys. Will the electrical Wiring harness (the one that runs along the left side of the engine bay on my xjr) from a 98 xj8 work on my XJR? Not the engine wiring harness just the electrical one. Thank you.
