having got the SC off the engine and also got the SC apart. Snout is now machined to accept tbe 10% smaller pulley.
Purchased a bearing and seal kit containing all bearings and all seals for the entire SC. BUT! I cannot find any instructions for how to split the rotor pack. Instructions for how to open the snout are there, as well as Instructions for how to change the two needle bearings at the back of the casing. Both in youtube form as well as in text form.
But I haven't seen anything about how to separate the rotor pack. I reckon there are a couple of ball bearings in there behind the two gears?
From what i have read, you do not. Eaton themselves say they are peened in and will not touch them. There are threads about it. Eaton says buy a new pack from them. Steigmeyer might do them. Kind of a catch 22 situation. I rebuilt my charger and the research came up leave them be
Thanks for replying and sharing this. I bought a kit containing 4 ball bearings and the two needle bearings. Two ball bearings goes into the snout, but the remaining two ball bearings must be for the rotor pack?
Yes the needle bearings are for the rear. When taking the old ones out make sure to measure the end cap position. They are recessed a tiny bit. Before you seal it all up after reassembly, bolt the snout on and turn it by hand. Do not overpack the needle bearing bores because there is a tight tolerance there. If you want to really check things you can take a slip of paper and put it between the rotor and housing and it should bind it up using normal rotation and just an easy turn. I was amazed at how much difference a rebearing and excellent used rotor pack made on my car. I have a free flow intake tube and a range rover intake tunnel and a kn filter and a 6% pulley and get 16psi+ boost as far as i can tell. That is enough for me and relatively cheap. No telling what a good tune would do

i would say yes. Especially if they are identical unless the kit also services other eaton models like the m90 gm
