Just curious how long the 2004-2007 XJ8 AJ34 4.2 V8 engine lasts on average before requiring a rebuild or replacement, assuming the oil changes are done as per the schedule and it is a daily driver.

My 2004 VDP engine has 130k miles on it and has not had any issues thus far.

So long as its well maintained and oil changes are carried out before they are due there is no reason why the engine shouldn't easily exceed 200k.

 

Nobody really knows, we're waiting for the first ones to wear out.
