What is Policy - if any - on bumping your own thread?

I have a post in the X350 section - that I would like to see if anyone would give any advice...

Not looking to constantly bump my post, just the once, no answer the 2nd time around, I will happily accept it and move on.

Well the way I look at it is; if it is a request for technical assistance and receives few or no helpful replies after a few days then no problem with a quick 'Bump'.

But, if it is a regular subject that has been addressed 100's of times, a search of the forum would be in order.

Obviously the 'Tech guys' don't like answering the same question over and over, nor do any of us.

However if it is the type of post that is looking for an opinion, ie, what do you think of my new wheels? or what is the best radio?

If this receives no replies, that kind of speaks for itself, and does not warrant a 'Bump'.

People who continually 'Bump' their own thread, will tend to be jumped on, generally by the members before the 'Mods' even get there.

Certainly in all instances, a few days should pass, before a 'Bump'.

Ironically after posting this, the post in question was responded to - so it did not need my 'bumping' assistance!

I think the other point Richard made in another post is that the post title is very important.
I don't know what your's said but a good description will get the techies excited.

"selling" a post is a under appreciated art form.

 

Agreed about the selling a post comment.

Too many threads are apprearing such as "HELPPPPP!!!!!!!!! or Newbie needs help!!!!!!! or just "PLEASE HELP ME"

These are wasteful and the content isn't known at a glance and therefore get glossed over as you'd expect.

I'm constantly checking threads for spelling mistakes and or organising them into better titles.............can be quite tiresome to say the least!
