Default Forum too successful?

I love this place, super nice people and tons of help available. I like to go on a few times a day and see what's up, see if I can help someone, and say hi to some new members.

I say "some" because there are soooo many! And so many posts! Today I hit "new posts" and got 226 results after one day.

I may have to give up doing the new post thing and just focus on the X308 forum and new members. It's getting too overwhelming otherwise. I don't know how the admins do it.

Hey Rob, surely we're not too successful as a forum?

I'd like to think that we will continue to grow / expand, add more info / detail etc as well as more members.

In all honesty though Rob I feel its a combination of things.......

Firstly for example, I had to welcome a backlog of newbies ( I do try to welcome every single new member as they come through the door, so to speak ) and had around 80+ to do in one sitting........

That was a long couple of hours i can tell you....lol

Secondly, as you may know we're running the famous FREE promo by Pinnacle Wax and thats been heavily posted into.

If you combine this with the great SNG Barratt $100 prize giveaway too + the new members signing up for these etc etc............

Suffice to say its been a hectic few days on site.

I do hope we are growing and will continue to on a daily / weekly basis, but I think for now your fears are groundless.

See you around the forums?

It's not a complaint, although it may sound like it. I'm just very surprised at the sheer numbers of new member posts. I've never been that great at greeting new people, and now it's harder than ever.

I have made a "canned" reply to make it easier, though. I'm sticking around for sure, just may have to be more selective in my reading.

Great job, everyone!

It has to be the bad weather in Canada in some of the northern US states. Can't take the Jaguar out - post o to the forum instead.

We've always had high numbers 'viewing' but it's great to see the increasing numbers contributing to threads.

One of the big attraction to JaguarForums for me is that there's always something going on. With members around the World, someone somewhere will always be up and awake finding or fixing issues 24/7.

Graham puts it very well as always and right on the money IMO

As we have so many members worldwide it is truly a 24/7 forum with something always happening somewhere

For me personally, its a real joy and to put things into perspective....

My member Id is #107 having joined in Nov 2006 ( basically, we had 107 members at that point )

I've watched & helped it to grow to now 80,858 total members in total.

Of these, to be fair, there are a lot of either old or inactive accounts, banned members, spammers that have been banned etc etc, but we still have....

17,382 registered members ( those with a post count of less than 10 )
29,921 Full Forum Access members ( those with 10 or more posts )
4,986 active members (those who have logged into the site within 30 days)
111 Veteran members ( those with 1000 posts or more )
Also another 20+ who are within 100 posts of becoming veteran members

Quite a few techs who have added over the years and some fantastic vendors, hopefully more to come on that front in the near future.

This of course not forgetting some of the great DIY members who have designed / manufactured and offered some excellent products to the members often themselves fiving away yet more FREE products......we all know who they are!!

Suffice to say that I am more than a little proud of what we have managed to achieve with the help of an amazing mod team over the years. Some have came & went ( life moves on after all ) but each and everyone has had a part to play in the process.

The work that the mods have done and continue to do to keep this site free from spam, welcoming every new member, pointing people in the right direction, resizing pics, offering forum advice and technical help from knwowledge gained along the way is totally invaluable.......This all from their free time and for the love of the site / marque.....THANK YOU!

I do hope that we contiue to grow and get much bigger, perhaps not to the point where we have a million members with 10000 on the site everyday.

Big enough to matter, but small enough to care

Just by the by, the work that you and others do in helping to welcome new membeers from time to time is a huge help to the mod team, and does help in making newbies to the site feel more "at home" as we hope you were made to feel.

Thanks again to all

Jim

Good words and good work, gentlemen. I also don't know how you do it, but I'm certainly glad that you do.

cheers,

There is too much activity namely on model forums but Off Topic strangely can't keep up with these lol
There should be many reasons to make a forum so popular but I always assert main reason are forum administration team and lay out .
This JF is one of the forums that you can feel at home

I enjoy helping to welcome new members, although my standard greeting us usually just "filler" on those posts.

Oh sure- blame us why not. Everybody else does!

I agree with my esteemed fellow countryman from the left coast, avt007. The new posts can be 3-4 pages some days. I go through the new members intro posts as often as I can searching for members from Canada. Couldn't keep up with all of them!

Spring is on it's way and I'm itching to get the S-type back on the road.

Well we have to blame someone Mikey.

Thanks everyone for your continued support and outstanding contributions it certainly makes life a lot easier and is also one of the main reasons behind the success of the forum.

Currently there are 2 major prize draws on the go, so yes there will be a spike in the new posts.

Speaking of which, I don't see Mikey, GGG, Norri, Caddy, MidwestJag, or Jim in the entrants listing for PinnacleWax.

Come on guys, put your money where your mouths are and get entered. OK Jim I can understand, he's only got a couple of foreign oil burners.

If you need help posting pictures thare is a global thread at the top of this section. lol

+1 on most of the above...lol

As for the couple of ole foreign oil burners?? WTF?? ....lol

I'd love to enter but will preclude myself Rich, but insist that the mods get in for it.

One of these times I'd love to see a mod win one of these prizes, It'd be a very small thank you for al lthe work you do.
Until that time you'll have to make do with my appreciation and that of the members.

Come to think of it, I don't see your name in there either??
