Default How does one get video files to play on this forum

I have some video files that I uploaded and I can't figure out how to make them accessible for watching.
Is this possible or do I have to put them on YouTube and link to them.

Hello,

Yes you will need to post them on a video sharing site like YouTube and the hot-link them.

I didn't want them on YouTube so I was able to do this

It's not very slick but that's because this forum software doesn't have built in player that I'm aware of
Essentially you download the files from the post and play them independently.

If you use YouTube and set it to unlisted (link only) then hot-link within a post, they can be played within the post (embedded) while not being public (unless the person knows the URL of the video).

YouTube is preferred because not only are they a video hosting site, which requires different hardware and resources, but videos hosted on YouTube can easily be played within posts without the member having to take any action besides starting the playback.
