If you enter text into the search box then click on it to modify it the whole string gets highlighted, you can't click on the string to insert or change the text. Hardly a hanging offence but can get tiresome when trying hard to find something (using Firefox or Chrome give same result)

 

Stevein - why not use the "search" function from the black banner above the newer search box below.
It doesn't seem to suffer with this issue

Have you tried to click a second time?

Text box behaviour is often setup as

click #1 select all
click #2 focus cursor, deselect

it depends on the designer and whether he felt the need for the "select all" behaviour
