A sticky is a thread that has been set always to appear at the top of the browse. See the two examples here from X300 forum:

Note they have Sticky on the left of the thread title. You open them just the same way as any other thread.
A thread can be set as a sticky (or unstuck) by any of the Moderators. To qualify, the thread must have important information (such as repair procedures) or be a regular topic.
The remainder of the threads display below the stickies in descending order of latest posts so they gradually move down the list (and off the first page) when there are no further replies or new threads are posted.
