Is there anything in the user control panel, or anywhere else to that matter, where I can set it view only the new posts since my last visit. That way, I don't have to "trawl" through all the sections.

That way, if I see any new posts I can possibly assist with, I can answer straight away, rather than "trawling".

Yes there is!
If you look at the black bar at the top of the page just below where it says welcome Tony S you will see the sixth button from the left is "New Posts".
That will do just what you want.

 

tony, the top NEW POSTS link on the upper bar, is just for that very purpose. You'll notice the bold titles are the threads that you haven't viewed since your last visit, and a new post has been added.
