420 power steering
Hi again
For as long Ive been playing and working on Jags I have a 420 Compact WITHOUT power steering and I thought they ALL had it...Can anyone tell me right or wrong or perhaps a link to read.
Cheers. Murray

Very puzzling as it was my understanding that all 420s had the Marles Varamatic steering box fitted. This was made by Adwest, but very shortly after, the power racks came in, so this was the last Jaguar fitted with this device.
However, I had a quick look at Paul Skilleter's encyclopaedic book on the saloons, which shows it was indeed, an option. Rather a heavy car not to have it especially as so much weight is at the front.
If you can find a steering box and pump, I think it's a fairly simple bolt-on, but so many people now buy the power rack kits as these steering boxes are so rare now.
