Default 420 vs 420G

A question I've always wondered: What were the differences between the 420 and 420G ? Did the 420G have a longer wheel base ? Any other differences ? Thanks.

Hi Rick,
There is a big difference between the 420 and 420G. The 420G is a MK X with an updated dash and the 4.2L engine. The MK X/420G has a longer WB than the 420. The 420 is based off of the MK II/S-type. The 420 is basically the S-type (3.8S/3.4S) from the windshield back. Forward of the windshield its sheetmetal is styled after the MK X/402G. It also has a safety interior (soft crash pad around the IP). The engine is the 4.2L instead of the 3.8/3.4 of the S-type.

Jaguar really confused people when they renamed the MK X the 420G.

I hope this helps.

Hi Bob

Thanks so much for your reply. That answers a question I've had for many years. No wonder I was confused. LOL There was a larger difference between the two than I originally thought.
Thanks again for clearing this up.

Rick
