Default How to make sunroof slide more easily?

I recently purchased a 1955 Mark VII M and I've removed all of the trim and moveable panels - the fender skirts, front bumper valance, and sunroof (could not get the cowl vent cover off due to extremely rusted-in screws), and it is now in for a new paint job. The sunroof was extremely difficult to slide open and closed and so before I put it back in after painting I'm wondering if anyone has some advice on what to do with the tracks or the sunroof itself to help it slide more easily.

If it were me, I'd rub the slides with #0000 steel wool - using a very fine grade oil as lubricant.; then I'd use Simichrome to polish the slides and finally rub in some Ballistol oil..
Good luck !
