Default Jack for Mk IX

My stock Smith's foldable jack looks good but is not safely usable. I would like to know what type of jack any of you are carrying in your boots to use in case of a real world flat tire. A bottle jack seemed like a good idea until it wouldn't fit under the frame when the tire was deflated. A Good Samaritan came by with a scissor Jack that worked fine, but I would be concerned using it under the car on a slope. I use an aluminum racing/floor jack in the shop, but it is too big to carry with me regularly. Any suggestions? Also, does anyone know where to get some embelisher ring clips??

Welcome to the forum Paul,

Beautiful car - that's a real Jaguar.

I never fully trusted the old style jacks on my early Jaguars. In recent years the toolkits have contained Scissor Jacks and a useful folding triangular Wheel Chock (item 6) to prevent the vehicle rolling on a slope.

The example I've taken here is from the 1997-2005 XK8/XKR but the X300 and X308 are similar. Could be worth considering.

Thanks for the suggestion and the etiquette lesson. I saw one of these scissor jack kits and was thinking it might do the trick.

I carry a scissor jack too, along with a block of wood to set it on.
I don't know if they still do, but back in the 90's Chevy put a nice jack with a really handy ratchet handle and a good 3 feet of extension in their trucks.

Thanks...I was thinking I would need 4x4 & 2x4 blocks to cover all possibilities.
