Default Mark 9 dash removal

Hey There:
I had my entire interior wood redone on my Mark 9 except the piece behind the steering wheel.
My car is an automatic and the shaft runs through the wood.
What is the best way to get that piece of wood out to be redone.
It is the piece with the small cubby in it.
Thanks for the help.

Remove the shift mechanism. You have to get the tube out in order to remove the wood.
