Mark IX vs Mark X

They are two very different motorcars, the only common parts being engine and gearbox.
The Mark IX is a body and separate chassis car, the chassis being almost the same as that on the XK sports cars, and also the Mark 5 saloon. This means independent front suspension and a traditional rear axle on semi-elliptic leaf springs.
The Mark 10 has a monocoque body shell and no separate chassis. Front suspension is also independent and similar to the Mark 2 saloon and the rear suspension is the classic Jaguar independent rear suspension also used on the E-type, and the XJ saloons from 1968 right up to the last of the XJS cars in the early 90s. In technology terms the Mark 10 it is much more advanced than the Mark IX although that doesn't really matter much these days.
The important point to make is that body panels are very hard to obtain for either car, so body restoration is difficult. Mechanical parts are shared with other Jaguars so are much easier. Both interiors use traditional coach trimming techniques with no special plastic mouldings so provided you have the money, you can buy virtually all the material to restore, but it's going to cost you.

ok so mark IX has full frame & body & mark X has unibody setup? Yea called a place about inter needing redone in mark X was told about $4400 front & rear about $2200 for front & $2200 for rear. I plan to buy one to use as daily driver looking at mark X this one has complete paperwork from new but seats are totally shot & mark IX looks good just need truck replaced & interior in good shape.

I drive a 85 dodge B350 now as daily driver & have drove other 80's vehicles as daily a few years ago as well as 64 Tbird Landau. Just looking to see what all might need updated on the Jaguars to make them a better daily plan to take about a year before go full time daily with a Jaguar. Looking to sell or trade 64 Tbird Landau for one.
