Not leaping... "FLYING" Jaguar!
So, my Mark V project is a period sensitive modification, turning the car into a coupe, with very streamlined lines such as the custom coach work vehicles of the time, and pre-war times. Since the vehicle will not be "correct" and is a Craig Sibley design, I felt it needed a custom hood ornament also. I am adding wings to the iconic leaping Jaguar, making it FLY! So far, most appear to like the one on the bottom whereas I prefer the one on the top. The top one is a bit more aggressive and "art deco", while the bottom is more classical and traditional. One thing I will mention for the purists is that I am NOT modifying the original mascot. Unfortunately, it is long gone, and I am using a mascot from a early model XJ6, aftermarket job. Please let me know your preference (the top version, or the bottom)?

Spend most of my time in the XJS forum, happened to see the "flying" part and had to take a look.
I like the second also. As far as trademark infringment, I see no problem as long as you make one for your personal use. Make a bunch for resale, and then I imagine there may be a problem...depending on if Jaguar figures it's worth the effort and $$ to cause you a problem.

That's a tough one, Cyb. I just tuned in on your pro-ject.
Yes, the top one is more art-deco and may accent the finished car. However, the step up halfway down the wing seems to make too great of distance at the rear tip of the wing and the rear foot of the cat. The silhouette of the lower cat is easier on the eye but lacks your deco look. Can you fix that? I've tried to imagine sliding the wings up and down the cats but of course you need to stay close to where, in the real world(LOL) the wings would be attached.
