Description:

I am at a loss to make a decision.  I am between a rock, and a hard spot.

Two weeks ago, I replaced the front-end coils/ shocks/ upper strut mounts/ & alignment, and the front oil cooler.  Everything was working great, and I was loving driving the car-- which was handling great.  The car has ALWAYS been garaged, and lives in Phoenix

Condition of the car is very good.  Then... BAM!  The engine starts knocking...  after a $500 to inspect and diagnose to eliminate the other possibilities (not the timing chain tensioners), by process of elimination, it's probably the crankshaft bearings.

At my Jaguar shop's retail rate ($125/hr) , it wouldn't be worthwhile for me to spend the $$ to pull the engine, and either rebuild the lower-end bearings, or even to buy a replacement block.

The car would be worth around $10K running.  I'm not gonna spend the time, money and effort to make it my project... I've got too many others. This is perfect for someone with a trashed XKR with a good engine, or even just a shop that has the mechanical where-with-all to rebuild the bottom-end crank & bearings.

My loss can be someone's gain.

Nice cars but expensive to fix. Found a 2006 that needs front end work. I'd appreciate knowing what it cost to do the front end. Thanks! Good luck w the sale.

Also sorry to hear. Were the tensioners ok or replaced? Is the XKR engine more likely to have problems because of the supercharger?
Of course, it depends on how aggressively the car is driven.
