Default I seed the upper shock mount buffer in your ad.

I had Euro ones installed and they fell apart sitting still. Can you tell me how to order them? Thanks, Michael

Default Undertray

Can you make the undertray for a 2005 XKR? I currently have mine off to replace oil cooler & hoses and it’s pretty beat up. What’s total cost, incl shipping to Santa Cruz, CA?

Thanks!!

Your '05 is different to my '99-'04. In order to make yours I would need a new original to make a mold and then make the parts. At least $1500.

Looks like a lot of you are getting ready for the winter layup and ordering lots of my parts for your winter project! I've made new molds and can step up production to meet the demand, so don't be afraid to send your order, I will be able to fit you in!

Hi, I might be needing a pair of these if you are still stocking them.

Just purchased a 2005 XK8 Convertible. Dealer mentioned that the previous owner “upgraded” the shocks etc. and that the car rides “a bit more stiff than stock.” Doesn’t seem like anything is wrong/off. Drives beautifully. It is however quite low in the front and I end up scraping the undercarriage even on relatively little inclines and/or speed bumps. Usually, going in at an angle does the trick…

Reading in various places that the 2005 and the XKRs can be lower than previous years, so perhaps it is just normal…?

Any way it rolls, I LOVE this car!!!

Cheers

Hi there, regarding the undertray and model years, I own a 2004 XKR coupe, it's technically known as a 2004.5 model year. It was obviously a mid-year model change. I bought her as a Japanese Import, condition excellent but with some flaws. It's registered here in New Zealand as a 2004 model, I see some later design additions that only relate to an '05, like side skirts being a major one, I've seen other '04's without the side skirts, I found that strange until discovering they have model year / mid-year changes! I'm pretty sure my undertray is not like the one in that photo above, it has much more area to it that basically fills in that bare area shown between the two side triangular shaped side pieces. My undertray goes much further back and over the area shown here as the sway bar with that large X stable rod piece, maybe 200-300mm back further - convertibles have the large X shaped bar as in this photo above but I think the jacking point is the same for both model types, you jack up that central area of the undertray that is directly under the cross member that houses the radiator, sorry it's different to my model as I have no X-shaped bar, and this is where you are supposed to jack one of these up if you use a single trolley jack. I was jacking mine up from this point, she was up around 300 - 400mm high and I was about to place jack stands on each side of the car, the trolley jack slid forward on it's wheels ever so slightly and bang! down she fell, I hadn't aligned the jack in the exact position correctly and left a part over the front edge of the cross member, this of course then slipped forward, the undertray on mine runs along the cross member too and further forward also, so when the jack slipped it created a 100mm from the head of the jack in the undertray. The jack also damaged some lines, the trans cooler, oil cooler & intercooler lines were all affected by the jack head. Thankfully none broke! I have concerns however of how much damage might be hiding within the lines. Only recently I replaced some seals and the pan/filter for the ZF6HP26 trans, that was a nasty messy job, prior to that I had a clunky changing trans only when slowing almost to a stop then gaining speed again, like at a give way sign for instance. Only when almost stopping would she bang into first gear when she should have stayed in 2nd to continue driving. If I had stopped entirely she would drive away fine, so I knew the trans wasn't in too bad a shape. Unlike the seals I found buried in between the trans body and the mechatronic unit. This is a common issue I know now. Anyhow I was only chiming in to talk about my undertray, typical thing happens when talking about our cars I find, they have many quirks that usually demand more talk!

I think they are all prone to scrape, they are just very low cars that need to be eased over the slightest bumps - well with mine anyway!
I should mention I have purchased those yellow shock inserts from ebay or somewhere, this was a couple of years ago now, they seem ok but I have also heard they fail quite quick, so we'll just have to wait and see I guess.

You must not be driving it much, or you have very smooth roads!

Default To the Garage

Well it's really too bad that John Dee's YouTube channel got hacked, people were able to see the benefits of this product, and how to put things together.
I hope John can recover his channel, it's a great source of knowledge to all of us! In the meanwhile my parts will still be available to all!
