Description:

This is a 700r4 and 200r4 conversion kit for a V12 Jaguar.  I purchased this for my 1974 Series II Jaguar XJ12 with an Borg Warner 3 speed  and installed it, documenting the conversion in a thread I will link in a response to this thread.

This kit for a car with a Borg Warner transmission from John’s cars in Texas. From what I understand, the difference between the Borg Warner and Th400 kits is the dowel pin for locating the adaptive plate.

When I say “kit” I mean the most important parts which are the trans adapter plate and the torque converter adapter plate.  Those are the two most critical parts of the conversion.

I am including my “rebuilt” 200R4 transmission. I put rebuilt in quotes because I bought it “rebuilt” and only put maybe 100 miles in it before I converted my car to a 6.0 liter 4l80e from a 1995 XJ12. I have a driving video of the transmission installed but I can’t guarantee/warranty the transmission (obviously).

I am including almost everything* that is needed. The reality is, this conversion requires so many modifications and considerations, that it’s really not possible to include everything in a complete kit, despite the promises in the directions in John’s “infamous” instructions. And they are infamous for a reason, if you read any posts about someone doing this conversion, they will inevitably comment about how complicated the instructions are because there are so few pictures and so many words.
That being said, all you need is the adapter plate and the torque converter plate in order to have the foundation of the swap. After that, it’s simply a matter of figuring out transmission mount options, the dipstick, the TV cable, and the driveshaft. I have included all of my spares, including a rebuilt series 2 driveshaft as well as a variety of dipsticks and TV cables, as well as brackets to mount the TV cables.
I am not suggesting that this is everything that you will need in order to complete the swap. But as long as you have a little bit of enthusiasm, or money and time, or a good mechanic, this will be essentially everything that is needed.

This is an excellent deal! If John's Cars is still around (I heard they were closing up?) you are going to pay this much just for the kit. If you buy this one you are basically getting a transmission for free.
