Is the body number stamped by the radiator catch on the cross member above the radiator ?

It's been a long time since I read the Beechams info, it was really interesting, and a good reference if i was going for a re-creation. I would have to refresh myself on the full content again re any details.

Actually that's a good question David, as far as i know the body number was allocated just to the body, then the body to a build sheet, that then specified the car no and then the engine and gearbox were then spec'd by the build sheet and allocated at that point.

As the bodies are universal (left/right hand drive) the body number does not correlate to the car number in any sequence as LHD and RHD had different number sequences, the body numbers would not tie up with the same car number sequence.

So long and short of it is I don't actually know, but only assume, I will see if I can dig anything further up.

    cheers
    Jon

    Hello,
Just found this thread and was interested in the 6-speed diesel box bolting up to the V8. I am considering using a 4.0l supercharge in my SD1 Vitesse, was going with Toyota 1uz but would be nice to keep it British and a bit more power with the s/c.

Hi only just saw your reply. Im going to fit a V8R into my xjs. Going to run an s type diesel box to start with. Going to use an Emerald ECU, just wondered if you had found a suitable throttle body solution ?
