There are forum write-ups on the way to set the stops at each extreme. When I was at the dealer we simply replaced the entire column if a reach motor or drive cable failed. It is not something that has a written procedure from the factory but a logical person can figure out to set the position sensor to STOP before the mechanical limit is reached.

Since the cable failed I would assume that the feedback pot is faulty and there is really no sense in worrying about it because if you use the AUTO function you will more than likely be replacing the cable again SOON.

The motor keeps going even though the column STOPS!!!!!!!! Something will break.
If the nylon gear has broken then the cable will do absolutely no good.

Unless the feedback pot is set at both limits you should use the manual mode after you install the cable.
