I was wondering if you might be able to help me? I am looking to buy a 2003 XJ sport withh 88000 miles. I would be the third owner of the car. I have been a Mercedes driver for most of my life and have become bored with these cars. I have always wanted a Jaguar. I prefer Jaguar sedans pre 2004, I love the 97 VP V6 car, but I am scared of issues and reliability. I have done much digging on this forumn and looked at more cars than I can count. Could you help me by telling me your thoughts of the 03 XJ sport. With 88,000 miles what should I be looking for? If you dont mind I would really appreciate your help.

    Hi Ian

Yes the XJ is a 3.2 sport, it's served me well over the past seven years. Hard to believe that I've had it that long! I've left that as standard and thrown money at the XKR instead! It really is quite disturbing to think that I went out and bought a car like the XK and then started changing stuff within a matter of months. At least nobody said you had to be sane to own a Jag.

    Hi Ian,
I am very happy with the wheels. If you don't already have ceramic pads, I would recommend that change as these wheels tend to show the brake dust in a matter of days after cleaning. The BBS Montreals are very hard to find and expensive when you do run across them. I've seen them for $750 each on Ebay, but don't know if they sold for that. As far as bending goes, I assume you just have to be a little careful of curbs, potholes, etc. I've never had any problems and have hit a few unavoidable, fairly nasty potholes and no problems. I have Michelins mounted on mine and they have a "curb protection" feature where part of the tire extends out past the edge of the rim. This gives the rims a little protection from a minor rub if you cut a corner too close. Hope this helps.

Thanks for you compliment on my (sadly gone) Corvette. Not a day goes by when I don't miss that car when thinking about it. My 2005 XKR was meant to be a replacement but it is nowhere near the fun of the Corvette.

Thanks for the compliment on the interior Ian! I love the grey veneer - it has light purplish streaking....seems unique.
