Greetings
just thought id start a thread about some work I've done on my mk1
there is soo many modification I've done but these is the base
4.2 out of a series 2 xj6 with a series 3 straight port cylinder head. The engine has had a full rebuild with 270/450 cams/springs ported cylinder head, mls head gasket, 4140 12mm head studs with 8.7 to 1 comp. the turbo is a gt42 with a turbosmart 60mm wastegate welding on to the rear housing while the water to air intercooler is sitting were the heater used to exist. I've cut open and ported the runners and turned the inlet to face the firewall as room is a issue.
an adapter plate hold the box and engine together while retaining the original chevy starter position a custom 11inch flywheel is currently being made to suit.
the car will be running e85 with megasquirt efi

So many questions I want to ask!
Do you have a CAD file for the gearbox adapter? How is it for space? Did you have to section the trans tunnel to make it fit? What's required to fit the S2/S3 4.2 motor? What ECU? What rear end?
I would love to check this out next time I'm up your way (I'm at Coffs)

Stoney85. Mark Barnes engineering has the drawing and a copy of the trans adapter. Tho I have been rather slack with the car lately and it's just been sortinng collecting dust. The main reason is waiting for getting the trans tunnel fixed as I was recommend to somebody and they did a disgusting job. Now waiting for the fabricators to get back to me.
The original engines mounts are still used in the 4.2 but custom trans mounts needed to me made. The water pump xj6 water pump had to be shorted and the 2.4 pully had to be used.. Both computer and rear end is undecided.

Update.
So its been a while since my last post as life gets in ths way. I had a customer from work that was ment to do my tunnel and engine bay but the car sat at his for a year with no work done so about a year ago i pulled it from his shop and started the tear down.
I thought if I'm going to do it myself I might as well do it Properly. The car is currently on a rottrisseis with the sills and a few panels that have rusted removed. I've removed 90% of the deadener myslef so it is cheaper for the blasting.
The car should be off to the blasters shortly, where they will primer it and put it on the chassis puller(as its had a couple hits in the front and the rails are ever so slightly bent.
After she's straightened I'll take it to work and the panel work will begin.
The diff I have chosen is a ford explorer 8.8 lsd. The ends have been removed and the diff shortened. Big ford ends have been fitted so I can run 9inch axls.
I've tossed the idea of running a water to air intercooler at the back as there will be little room for the heater/fan inside of the car/ passenger foot well. I'm going to remake the intake manifold facing forward with an intercooler in front of the radiator, which means I need to cut the entire front out to fit a bigger radiator that has airflow from to the front 2 holes. I would also like to tuck it under the original radsupport panel to make way for twin thermos.
There's a lot of work to be done but I have a deadline on September next year. Watch this space.
