It's a good parts car _ I wonder if the tool kit inside the spare tire is there and complete ???
Being a Mark 1, it's not worth putting the amount of money it would take to restore it.
When I ever I see a car like this my stomach turns over a bit and I wonder how things like this happen.
It's a hard to believe that it was bran-new and shiny once.

Curious- why would the Mark 1 be less valuable to restore than a Mark 2?

Just from what I've read over the years.
There is more chrome on the Mark 2, higher roof line, larger engine... (although the Mark 1's had the 3.4 later on I believe)
It was an upgrade from the Mark 1 in many areas.
I think the Mark 2 was better known in the racing circuit as well, but I have no documentation of that.

And personally where there is body work on the top half of the doors on the Mark 1, the Mark 2 has chromed window channels _ it just adds that much more refinement _ for me...

And given a choice, all things being equal, I would spend money on the Mark 2 over the 1.

If you're strictly thinking of resale value and you put both cars together at the same price in equal condition, I believe the majority or people would choose the Mark 2.

No one ever modifies a Mark 1, eg fuel injected V8, rack power steering, independent rear suspension, etc...
Why do you suppose that is ???

That all makes sense. Thanks. I guess there are a lot fewer around to fall into the hands of someone who would want to modify one, and I suspect the unique parts are a little more difficult to get.
