Default 1967 3.4S

I will start a thread for my car while I destroy/work on it. Highly doubt I can do anything on no income, and doubt there is much value in it even if completed (negative return on costs).

i have already learned that it has a nickname (s-type), but I will use its proper designation (3.4S) since it is not an S-type.

Right-hand drive, + chassis ground, overdrive manual xmission, disc brakes.

Probably will need advice regarding mechanics. Electrical is simple, just poorly protected harnesses that I assume will need replacing wire by wire as I doubt I can afford a new pre-made over-priced harness when I can make one myself for next to nothing and not have extra unused wiring not needed for a particular model variant.

Starting point
Body appeared to be hit front and rear. Fuel tanks both leaking (one damaged/dented); probably will determine if project can get off the ground. If unable to repair existing tanks I doubt I will continue unless used tanks (leaking or not) are located for minimal cost. If no cost effective means of repairing tanks is found then stripping of vehicle will be the project instead or repairing it.

Unfortunately, with S type being used for 2 different models searching for something is too time consuming. One cannot determine if a post refers to a model nickname or actual model until sifting through 100s of non-applicable posts.

Try again next year to find 3.4S fuel tanks for cheap.

Also, padding my posts just so I can submit a wanted ad on the marketplace. Just more wasted time!

I have no parts lists to cross reference. Is there anything on the site with that info?
most likely the Jaguar 420 uses the same tanks, (1966-1968), and MAYBE the MK-X and 420-G

Welcome to our world!

For searching in Google, eBay etc, it might help to type
S type Mk2 420
or
S type 420

Thank you @Jose and @Peter3442

Unfortunately, I do not have good internet in my area. Makes a simple 10 minute search can take hours depending files, pages, etc. Often times I cannot load one page. I will wait until next yearcwhen I have access to better service temporarily.

My theory: A) one good gas tank, car starts and rolls on its own; sell car before it gets any worse [make OK $; minimal time/labor/cost]; B) Sell as is [make low $, no time/labor/cost]; C) Part out [make higher $, high time/labor, no cost]; D) Restore vehicle [Unrealistic on my budget; expense too high and resultant value a loss if sold; but just a guess since I do not know what these are fetching).

Have to put the year in there, or Google will give you the new "Ford" S-Type.

@Cass3958 thank you for the information and the personal insult. You just could not muster enough social decorum to avoid using a directed barb.
Thank you for providing insight into your character and also the lack of etiquette allowed on this site.
if I somehow insulted you, whether directly or indirectly, I sincerely apologize.

Do not worry as it will never happen again since I will remove myself from this site, and attempt to find folks who know how to converse in a polite manner.

Just remember, when you put something in print it is the same as saying it to someone's face. I hope if you have children that you raise(d) them better than that manner in which you were raised when showing basic respect to others.

Note: I live on Earth because it provides adequate O2 for proper physiological and psychological health. Since you are on the Moon, you may want to check to ensure you are receiving O2 to the brain since something seems to be affecting your thought process when it comes down to addressing strangers who have never done you wrong. Also, stay in shape if possible as the low gravity will affect your bone density and muscle mass.

Ciao!

I don't know what happened here, but I did notice a certain disrespect from user Cass towards the poster.

Why then was the original poster banned ?

Jose, Perhaps it was the deleted reply that I missed. For better or worse, most of this stuff goes straight past me.

This a copy of the post I made and was then deleted by admin.

"Might help if you let us know where you are on the Earth. I have a spare set of S Type fuel tanks but I currently live on the moon. ******. Specifics help as we all have some spares and might live around the corner from you and I seriously do have a spare set of fuel tanks.
For your information the "S Type" from 1963 to 1968 was actually known as the "S" model and the nickname as you call it was coined by the Autocar magazine when they wrote a piece about an auto test they did in 1963. If you search for classic S Type it reduces the list as does 1960s S Type but we all feel your woes in searching for parts."

I have deleted and inserted asterix where I had previously used the term Idiot. This was in relation to the user JasperJasper putting his location as Earth and repeated by "User 7972082 " (JasperJasper is the same person who has also put his location down in the wanted Ads as the Antarctica and has been deleted and banned from the forum by admin.) which is not very helpful to everyone on the forum when trying to suggest suppliers in their vicinity or even the same country or supplying spare parts such as fuel tanks which is what was requested. I apologies if using this term "Idiot" has offended anyone as Idiot means "a person of low intelligence". This might not be correct in this instance but judging by the response above by "User 7972082" along with being someone who in their profile on this forum has put " Jaguar = POS" in every column I might be wrong. So I again apologies to anyone who may have been offended by the use of the word "Idiot" but if the cap fits please wear it..

The large cars (420G and Mark X) tanks are different and will not fit the smaller cars.
