GG is asking a hell of a lot as DG 250s were used in a multitude of Jag models.
I think the earliest use was in the MK7 and onwards to MK8, 9 etc
Was used in the MK1 as well as the MK2. and onwards to the S type etc.
Perhaps GG could be more specific in his question about DG boxes?

I hold a register of S Types which includes a lot of DG250 gearbox numbers but they are not in any order so I am not sure that the serial numbers for any DG250 gearbox would give you a lot of information.
On the S Type the serial numbers start with JBC but the numbers jump about all over the place. I have a 1963 3.8 S Type with JBC17387 but then it jumps to a 1964 3.8 with JBC16155. This might be down to the registration date rather than the manufacture date. The oldest S Type gearbox number is somewhere around JBC30254 which is an early 1967 car before they converted to the BW35 which has a serial number similar to FG2740.
I would assume that all the DG gearboxes are sequentially numbered but as DG250 was used in the Mk2 and S type at the same time 1963 to 1967 I do not know if there was a separate set of numbers for the Mk2 and then another set of sequential numbers for the S Type just like the numbers on the engines in the two models are different.

What you can do is look here: SALOON Data - Keeping track of every Classic Jaguar Saloon - Jaguar, Daimler classic saloon (sedan) information, articles, photos and register
You may have to look at the individual cars, but the ones with a chassis number ending in BW are automatic cars.
The earliest Mark 2 I see there with an automatic and numbers given is a 1960 car, the 126th built. The transmission number is J3B5652
The build records at Jaguar would have this information, but they will not let you browse through them.
