Looks like some sort of North American straight 6. The narrow valve cover would indicate the cam is in the block, so a simple push rod engine possibly with hydraulic lifters.
What ever it is, it certainly isn't a Jag engine.

A Ford Super Pursuit 6? Or that's what we called them over here. They powered early Falcons & F100s.
