Default Early Mk2 Steering Box overhaul

Can anybody point me to a company that overhauls and repairs the steering box of my early Jaguar Mk2 ?

Manual or PAS? ~ in September 1960, power assisted steering became an option on Mk2. If you can't find someone in Germany best you deal with the UK. What is the problem?

Your car should be fitted with what Jaguar call the "First Type" Power Assisted Steering (There were 3 types fitted as the cars became newer. Burman First Type, Burman Second Type & 67/68 cars Varamatic. (Full name: Bendix Marles Varamatic made under license by Adwest in the UK)

SNG Barratts can provide seal kits. They have a German Branch. (put Power Steering in the search box on the German site).

Otherwise you will have to send your unit to ICS below ~ They come highly recommended by someone that I trust. If Germany has a Jaguar Club I suggest you contact them. Somebody in Germany must be able to do the job. You might have to provide the seal & O ring kit.

If you don't have a Service Manual/WS Manual.
You can download one here. Don't download the J H HAYNES Manual. Download the first Genuine Jaguar manual. Early units ran at 850 psi later raised to 1000 psi. Ensure your pipework is in good condition both high & low pressure. Cheaper to have pipework made up than genuine. I went genuine because I was chasing concours which I have now achieved ~ 100 points >. Now I can drive & enjoy. I only wanted to have it judged once. My car was not intended to be a trailer queen. If I can't drive it & enjoy it I don't want it.

Forgot to mention above. Be careful not to damage the input shaft seal on the input shaft splines. Wrap splines in cling wrap or similar covered with grease. There was a Churchill tool for the job.
