Default hand crank aerial

Does anyone have a hand crank Smiths aerial in their car?

A small device with a crank handle usually mounted under the dash or in the console will raise and lower the aerial.

I would be interested in purchasing any units. Most if not all are broken.

the following page has some info that might help rebuild yours.

Radiomobile Radio, Aerial and Housing ? Valve Chatter

when I was installing speakers inside the front kick panels of my '65 S type, I found a long cable with a strange end on one side and an antenna end on the other. I still have it, it looked to me like maybe a CB cable?, but I am starting to wonder if it is a cable for a crank antenna, it is a very long cable.

Default cable mystery

Jose

I doubt that is a cable from the hand crank. The hand crank uses conduit similar to speedometer cable with fittings swaged to each end. It may have been an aerial cable for a hand crank aerial but that would look like any aerial coax.
