Default MK II Side Marker Lamp

I am repairing the side light markers on the front fenders. The main wire keeps pulling through the insulating “washers. Any suggestions on how to stiffen, Replace or modify to prevent this?

Ray

does it only come out of the socket when the bulb is pressed against the wire contact?

if yes, then the issue must be caused by the insulating washer not preventing the contact from being forced backwards by the bulb contact, if that makes any sense.

the solution is to replace the insulating washer with a nylon plastic washer, cutting it the same as the insulating washer so to slide it over the red wire. In the US you can find small nylon washers in ACE Hardware or Lowe's in the Specialty Hardware section.

Or just get a new set, looks like it needs replacing anyway, the lens should be clear, not yellow.

Yup, they're pretty common.

Thanks for the advice/comments. I think for now I will try Jose’s suggestion and put it on the list of things I may replace down the road based on budget priorities.
