Mk11 Versus Daimler
Thanks:
That is a newer post '67 Daimler V8-250 with the newer slim line bumpers, new aircleaners etc. Padded Rexine dash & Moto Lita steering wheel.
The Mk2 is a pre '67 heavily modified 3 carb unit with tuned exhaust manifolds, probably a straight port head & semi Coombs bonnet & rear arches. Also fitted with a Derrington steering wheel.

These comparisons or even just the one on one show of a Jaguar like the the one done on the Modified S Type are done by people who have no idea what they are talking about and really annoy me. Pointing out one of the differences was that the Mk2 had bonnet louvers and the Daimler did not almost indicated that every Mk2 had Louvers and this was how you told the difference. Numpty.
The number of factually flawed errors in the commentary are unacceptable. Edward Turner was managing director of BSA’s automotive division. The V8 was inspired by Cadillac & Chrysler designs. (He drove a Cadillac at the time). Only the combustion chambers harked back to his Triumph Speed twin designs. Turner did not come with the BSA sale of Brown's Lane to Jaguar etc. Urg!

I suppose the objective of the video was to promote the auction. Commenters on you tube pointed out the presenter's errors and he apologised or send he didn't meant to imply ... . The nice thing is that, for most of the people who commented, the cars totally outshone the presenter and his lack of knowledge.
The expertise of the presenter does make such a difference to these videos though. Iian Tyrell on Tyrells Classic Workshop I think is one of the best and most knowledgable guys on the internet. This makes watching such a pleasure whether he's talking about a Jag, a Mercedes or a Ford Capri.
