Default Mk2 front grill badge replacement

Hi,
I own a 1967 Mark2 Jag and I would like to replace the badge on the top of the front grill.
Can anyone please assist me with instructions on how I can do this.
Many thanks for any help in this matter.

You have a big job ahead of you _ the emblem is attached on the inside.
The rad has to be removed to gain gain access to the grill mounts.
There are four around the perimeter and one recessed nut at the very top.
Once the grill is removed, you can gain access to the emblem mounting bracket.

If you have super long and skinny arms, you may be able to remove the bottom access panel below the grill either to remove the grill or get at the mounting bracket itself with out having to remove the radiator.

So I just had a look at mine (it's in pieces) and the grill has to be removed _ the centre vain has to come off first to get at the badge. The badge itself is held in with two small pan head screws (red) and the top section of the vain is held in there with two screws (yellow). It's also secured at the bottom as well.
As mentioned before, you may be able to remove the grill once the access panel is taken out (held in place with two bolts).

I'm surprised the MK-2 does not have access to grille removal without removing the radiator!

in my S type, there is a removable plate under the lower "U" of the grille, where I can slide my hand with a 8mm socket and rachet, and slowly remove all 6 nuts that fasten the grille to the body.

Once the grille is removed, you remove the Center Bar nuts which attach the center bar to the grille.

then the Badge comes off along with a thick piece of foam rubber which is sort of glued with double-sided tape behind the emblem to keep it taught, pushing it towards the front.

Yes, I was able to remove the grille with the aid of a tall and lanky 19-year-old, who reached up there with tools and removed it.

Yup, that's what it takes, tall and lanky. I have trouble getting my elbow past the access area once the panel is removed.

Hi Jubba! Hope you don't mind if I ask a follow-on question. Guys, can the emblem be separated from the plastic protective bubble? If so, can you just buy the plastic cover?

Hi Jubba

I know there is an access panel, but you need arms like a gorilla to get to the grill badge fixing, and may find the screws stuck in. It's better IMHO to take the whole grill off. Of course you have to go in via the access opening to do this !!!!

unless the Radiator is out of the car, then it's a piece of cake to access the 8mm bolts behind the grille.
