Default MK2 - inline fuel filter

Hello all,
I've found the original fuel filter solution in the engine bay a bit fragile in terms of fuel leaks, with the fuel bowl. I get it tight, but it has a tendency to sweat/leak after some time. Anyway, I've tried bypassing the whole canister/bowl, and just use a modern inline filter. It seems to work very well, and the engine runs better (not tested, just a feeling).

Question - by omitting the original bowl solution, are there any side effects (other than not keeping it original) one should be aware of? Will fuel pressure increase to the carbs/could it run rich or put too much pressure on the carb mechanics?

Feedback highly appreciated

Cheers
Morten

In line fuel filters are fine _ won't affect the fuel level in the float bowls.
The new filter should be of similar size.
