The worst thing they did with the Modern S Type was call it an S Type. Made searching for classic S Type parts on E Bay a nightmare. I was surprised they did not call it the Mk3 which would have been more suitable as the design was half way between a modern take of the Mk2 and S Type. I would have one if I could afford the fuel bill for that 4.2 supercharger.

Totally agree on the name. Another case of the brainless publicity/advertising/sales group.

The fuel bill on my partly similar modern XK is tolerable and compensated by the fun of it and using an X type (another ridiculously underrated and unfairly maligned car) diesel as a daily driver.

Hey Primaz,

My reply to your post got lost in some of the "noise". Would love to get your input.

I attached some screenshots where you mentioned you needed to do some modifications to the mounting point/floors support/cross member to fit the XJ40 seats. Let me know if I am misinterpreting your posts. I understand you carried out this project close to 13 years ago so some details might be fuzzy 🙂 I would much prefer being able to directly bolt the XJ40 seats in!

I had the 2.2 Diesel X Type estate and as you said a very under rated car. I would have had a modern S Type if they had made one in an estate as I needed the car for the dogs.
