Default Rmostat for 3.4 mark 2 1965

Okay, did a complete flush, new everything, went with the bypass thermostat incase something gets stuck.
Its a 90 c so it reads 90 on the needle.
The car runs fine and with the electric choke all runs in sync.
I had a 165 thermos before, the needle was lower but couldn't get as much heat and everything else.
The old book says 90c is the way, the car runs fine.....
Any thoughts?
I can idle this car down to 400 rpm its so sweet.
Just a little nerve racking with the needle that high.
Ive been driving in 100 degree heat as well.
Any thoughts.....

Engine wear is reduced when it runs hotter, you should be fine if the cooling system is healthy. Keep an eye on the temp gauge though.
But I still run a 70 degree one.

With the 70, make sure you go on long runs, don't poodle around town on a regular basis.
When warming the car up, don't let it sit and idle, let the oil pressure come up (a few seconds) and drive it gently until you reach normal operating temperature.
More then 90% of engine wear occurs on cold start up, even on the hottest day.

Just an update , I had bought the exact repro radiator cap from three major suppliers.
All three were very bad quality, all make the car over heat and boil over.
Once I returned to my old cap, all was fine.....the needle sat a hair past 70 .
Wonderful drive.
Took first at the concours.....
