It Runs AGAIN!
Finally, after toil and tears, the 1964 Daimler runs again!
With all the assistance and advice from everyone here, the elegant beast's engine turned over, ignited, and idled!
The motor ran strong and loud.
It is a beautiful sound.
Still need more advice and pics forthcoming.
THANK YOU ALL!

Jeff, CS, and many others:
It runs again because people such as yourselves have shared knowledge and insights. THAT made the difference!
The weird thing about doing the work on your own that it translates into other areas... there something about moving a ratchet, a wrench, flushing a system, turning a bolt, scraping off a terminal, and all the other actions of working on a car that encapsulates into other areas of one's life and obviously onto other cars.
Before working this diligently on this and other cars, I would bring all my vehicles to a mechanic and paid for the expertise. Now I do the work myself, by and large, and learn a little bit more everytime. I can openly UNDERSTAND what needs to be done and why. The local junkyard is my $2 education to learn how to pull parts and make the mistakes on the junk going to the smelter.
I take that knowledge along with eveything shared on these boards and put it to good ends. So much so, that I have repaired and maintained friends cars and even strangers.
Though the entire matter is often frustrating beyond words, the investment in myself and the knowledge gained is valuable beyond measure. So much so that I've learned to fix things in emergencies and do preventative maintenance that results in savings over the long run.
To that, I say thank you all!
