Default Shockies

Am fitting new front Shockies to my 65 stype. The old one had the top rubbers in the tower with the spacer fitted. The new one (BOGE) supplied have metal caps either side of the rubbers that are shapped to form the spacer. Do I not fit the original spacer (7695) and leave the new metal caps or remove the top metal cap from the lower rubber and bottom metal cap from the upper rubber and fit the spacer

I have not worked with the front shocks in my S type, but I recently replaced the front, top rubber bushings in my XJ-6 and the picture below shows the sequence.

the S type front shock assembly is the 2nd picture.
