Take the cover off the radio and look for cold solder connections to the circuit board, like the speaker connection.
And off course as you mentioned the antenna connection _ internal as well.
I want to take that radio apart and get it fixed but I promised myself that those jobs have to come after the mechanical and body work (although if I'm waiting for the oil to drain I'll have to occupy myself with something!) Thanks Jeff

Default Engine oil and fluids-modern equalivents?

Not sure if this is the right place but does anyone know of the modern equivalents to the fluids in the VIN plate? I was told it is possible to use a 20w-50 motorcycle mineral oil in place of the recommended 20w-30. And any recommendations on PS fluid and brake fluid?

For the engine oil, you're in luck. I'm guessing you're in Canada by the license plate in the pics (please update your user profile and sig) and can get a suitable oil at Canadian Tire. Look for Shell Rotella 20W50.

Modern car oils can lack ZDDP which will protect the valve train from excessive wear. Oils certified to API CJ4 are dual purpose diesel/gasoline lubricants and still have this essential additive.

Thanks Mikey, still having a bit of trouble tracking down a 20w50 zddp api cj4 oil but on Monday I have a local store ordering me Lucas classic car 20w50 with high zinc and phosphorous levels (thats the ZDDP right?). Not sure about the api cj4 in the Lucas. My local Canadian Tire stores don't have Shell Rotella in 20w50 unfortunately. I wonder if the right brake fluid is as tricky to track down?

How strange. It's gone from mine too.

Try your local Walmart, they probably have 15W40 which would be acceptable in our climate.

While searching for the Lucas oil today the store manager said that one of the major oil manufacturers stopped production of one of these oil types (ZDDT) 6 weeks ago, the company name escapes me but it was to conform to environmental regulations apparently. This is the link for the Lucas oil I will try out https://www.amazon.com/Lucas-Oil-106...s=lucas+20w-50
