The Formula E season starts this weekend in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Jaguar will be involved again in the all-electric series, which now seems appropriate for a Jaguar team (Jaguar/TCS Racing).
Unfortunately they have never connected their relative success in the series with their actual products for sale. Not even for last year's rollout of the electric concept Type ***** or some years ago with the debut of the electric I-Pace.
The sad irony is that Jaguar team driver Nick Cassidy won the last three races last season, including both double-header races in London. He placed 2nd overall for the season. Seems like a pointless achievement for the all-but-dead brand, in their home country.
Otherwise, the series is interesting. The competition is close, much better than in Formula 1. There is a recharging pit stop which is relatively short and usually they run their energy down to the last couple percents. Attack Mode gives the cars a temporary boost of power and 4-wheel drive for a short time, which is an important part of the race strategy.
For sure the series needs a lot more promotion. But I did find a Formula E channel on free Roku. Worth checking out.
After scoring NO points in the first two races this season, the Jaguar team has Created Exuberance with a win at the Miami e-Prix last Saturday. Makes one want to rush out to see what is for sale at the Jaguar dealership!
Driver Mitch Evans had an excellent race. He is the top winning driver with 15 career wins in the series.
Ex-Jaguar driver Nick Cassidy is now racing for the Citroen team (they are racing again, first year in F-e) and Nick won the Mexico City race in their second start in the series.
I wonder if they had a display with the concept Type Oh-Oh there, in Miami Pink, where it made its debut. A marketing win for the company, if they put any thought into it.
Despite JLR's worst efforts, the Formula E team keeps winning. 1-2 in Madrid. Seems like this venture operates independently from JLR Next stop, a double header weekend in Berlin at the Templehof airport circuit, but not until May.
