Default 1974 XJ 6 L Longmont CO

Hi I will not be on this site for long since I have just sold my 1974 XJ 6 to someone in Boulder. I would like some help though so I can turn the car over to the new owner hopefully in running condition. I have sold it for a very fair price as a parts car with no title. Once the new buyer said he wanted it I felt compelled to get the title issue resolved which I will have done by tomorrow and to drive it under it's own power to Boulder about twelve miles away which may or may not be feasible but I am giving it a good go. The car has been sitting for over three years and the float needles are not seating. There seems to be enough posted to keep me going on that problem for the time being. I posted a request asking for help on the ignition key but have received no responses which is disappointing. It would seem to me that enthusiasts would have more interest in saving another car from the crusher. To have the new owner pay 20% of the sale price for a new key just might be the tipping point for him to say " I think I will part it out" which he might do anyway. But it seems there will be a smaller chance of that if it is drivable. Thank you in advance for the access to your archives. Sincerely,
Kiki

Welcome to the forum kiki,

It's over thirty years since I had a Series II XJ6 but I do recall that the Ignition Key was not the same as the Door Key.

I'll answer your question more fully in the tech section.

Good luck getting it running.

Graham
