Greetings. Just aquired a 1980 XJ6 in relatively excellent condition but of course does need some help. Hasn't really been driven since 1992, just recently woken up. Beginning the search for some parts - not sure where to start. Here's my immediate list:
New radio - comments on which to get?
Leaping cat hood ornament - didn't originally come with one, but want to put one on. 5" or 7"? Is there a proper type to get?
Is there an aftermarket goodie that perhaps uses the ashtray spaces on either side of the shifter for more contemporary purposes, such as a cup holder? iPod holder? You know, something that I pop out the ashtray and pop in something more useful?

This car was painted by Rolls Royce in England on special order from the Texas dealer - it's a two tone mustard color (I've named it Dijon). I am only the second owner. Feel quite lucky. But will need to compound out the paint and do a bit of touchup. Also will need to put in a new interior sometime as leather is popping stitches on every seam. Recommendations on type of kit or leather?

This is not a show car, will be my daily driver.

Leaping Hood Ornament : 5" ones
New radio : If originality is not a main concern then I would go for something with lots of goodies .

 

Welcome catlovr. I also put a 5" leaper on my SIII. A cupholder would be a nice option to have...
