Default Caddy guy vs. 1991 XJ6 Sovereign

Greetings all, I am anxious to see everything this forum has to offer. It’s clear to me there are a lot of long standing Jag enthusiasts and appreciate seeing the passion and expertise. For the last decade I’vebeen a Cadillac junkie (DeVilles and Fleetwoods from 1955 to 1996 and everything in between) and came across my first Jag almost by mistake. I bought a 1991 XJ6 Sovereign from a co-worker when he accepted an offer I didn’t expect him to take. It’s been a great car and I’ve really grown to like it. Look forward to chatting with you all!

BC

PS: I think a 4.6 Northstar V8 may be a potential swap candidate if the 4.0 goes

Welcome to the forum! Congrats on the purchase. Those Northstar V8's are pretty sweet. Check out a popular book called "Jags that Run." Its all about swapping american V8's into the XJ. Us jag folks call them "Lumps." That 4.0 of yours will last quite a while as long as its well taken care of.

Welcome to the forum, nice mistake to make I pretty much did the same.

The 6pot 4.0 engine will most likely out last the body work.

Thanks for the welcome! The car has 172k miles and runs excellent (a couple things have come up recently but that is beside the point). I have no intentions of swapping the engine out and would love to keep it all Jag, but if she goes she goes. Quick but funny story on how I got the car; the drain in the fuel filler area was clogged and the tank filled with water. Not knowing this but vaguely knowing the symptoms as being fuel related I showed up with a $3.00 fuel filter and drove it home! The look on the guy's face... I did have to pull the tank eventually but no worries.

Welcome to the forum!

Oh one other thing you need to put your car details in your signature. I am speaking of the Year, Make & Model. Without it you may not get the input you are looking for.

Please take a moment and read the information provided to you explaining the rules. Be patient and enjoy the site.
