Default Forum: How to check out a part vendor?

I have located a hard-to-find electrical part for sale. Only one vendor has it available and it is ~$400. I want to know if other folks have purchased from Jaguar Parts Center, an online parts retailer? I am reluctant to authorize $400 to a vendor for whom I cannot find any information verifying who they are. Even their phone goes into voice mail at every call. Thanks for any help.

FYI, the part is marked:
LADSG89031486 and 739349111427900182 are numbers on the electrical box for xenon headlamps.

Jaguar xenon headlamp control box, sits in the headlight assembly. Made by Valeo and has these numbers: LADSG89031486 and 739349111427900182.
My car is a 2006, but believe this part to be common to all xenon equipped Jags.

I've used Jaguar Parts Center (JaguarMerriamParts.com). Ph.# 800-510-1401. They're located in Merriam,KS which is suburb of Kansas City. I've had no problems and prices are in line with Gaudin Jaguar Parts.

Please, do yourself a favour and at least check our vendor directory as many members here have bought parts at reduced prices due to forum membership and had great service too. it could be worth a call?

that part number may be a LAD5G...not an S, if so, there are a ton of salvage units on ebay, if a new unit is a little high as it sounds it may be, do a search using 'valeo HID ballast LAD5G* ' and you'll see what I saw. I'd find a reputable seller with a short warranty so its not DOA, and I'd spend 1/4 of what the new price would be...then take a nice weekend drive somewhere to reward yourself.
