Default Greetings from Georgia

We just leased a Azurite Blue 2012 XJ and could not be happier. This is by far the nicest car we have ever driven and I look forward to all the information provided within this forum.

I really enjoy pampering the exterior of all my vehicles and can already tell I have some work to do on the XJ due to the amount of swirls and light scratches in the clear coat but look forward to the challenge and the reward of a properly detailed finish. I've already noticed that the clear coat appears to be harder that other vehicles I've detailed so any tips from other members would be appreciated. I use a Porter Cable orbital buffer and Adam's Polishes products.

Of course my detailing was placed on hold due to a "battery low, please start engine" warning that has been appearing on our car. The dealer is currently researching the issue. So far they have replaced the battery but that did not fix the issue. Trying to be patient but I can't wait to get the vehicle back because it is such a dream to drive!

Thanks in advance for any tips and tricks.

Welcome,

+1 to Norri's advice to check the detailing section.

A 2012 with swirl problems already.

Hopefully nothing the PC random orbital can't fix without having to use anything too aggressive.

Graham

Welcome to the forum.
I've just used the Meguiar's DA microfiber correction system on one of my cars and was blown away at how great it was in taking out swirls and scratches. Check the detailing section out for more details. I used this with my PC 7424xp. Have fun.

Thanks all. Yes, it is hard to believe a 2012 car like this could be left to be improperly cared for by a dealer. It was a transfer from Alabama where they obviously did not know how to properly wash and care for a vehicle. The dealer I leased her from did offer to detail it but when I started to ask questions about the process or speak to the detailer, I quickly realized I'd be better off doing it myself then risk additional damage.

I look forward to interacting with you all in the future.

Thanks,
Lenny
