Default Greetings from Norway.

Hi all.

Got myself a second hand '09 XF 4.2 supercharged two and a half months ago, and I'm going to prove my shrink wife wrong that material happiness only lasts about three months. But with V8s and guys I guess it's just as much a spiritual thing as a material thing.

Story of how I bought it: My brother got married earlier this autumn, and they had a borrowed Maserati Quadra-something as the choice of transportation on the big day. The V8 sound went straight to my heart, and a few days later when I sobered up I went through the classifieds on all brands that could have a decent V8.

I then found my new love for sale at Jaguar Norway. I just happened to have my birthday coming up too, so the reasons not to buy it soon got outnumbered by the reasons to buy it (one cylinder, two cylinders, etc).

Cars are silly expensive in Norway (for instance, the 5.0 supercharged XF is about USD 350 000. I told you silly expensive. 70-80% is tax), so even a 2 year old 4.2 was close to USD 150 000. Obviously I didn't discuss it with the wife, no point wasting time when you know the answer, so I told her I'd be late at work that day, drove our number 2 car (now demoted to number 3) to the airport, flew over to Oslo, Norway (I'm in Bergen, Norway), picked it up at 2 PM, and drove it back home along the coast (over the mountains would have been quicker if it wasn't for the snow and ice which I didn't want on my first day behind the wheel). 11.5 short hours later I came home and by then it was already my birthday, and my logic (unfortunately flawed when applied to women) was that the wife wouldn't and couldn't (wrong on both counts) be angry since it was my birthday.

So anyway, here I am, still married, our house building project delayed by a few months, and it was all worth it!

Welcome to the forum,

Great intro story, is your wife starting to melt with regard to the car?

Well, in the sense that she has something to use against me in any argument, yes.

But still worth it.

LOL, Welcome to the forum.

Your wife's birthdays are going to prove mighty expensive in the future.

Good to have you with us.

A pic or two of you now living in the garage with the XF would be good.
